After having an amazing day in Memphis, we decided to have a day in Nashville to explore some of the best tourist spots. Our first place was The Hermitage, the mansion and land which used to belong to Andrew Jackson, a former president of the United States. The house was incredible, with so much history including actors who worked in the house in period dress and told stories of all the rooms! We walked around the lands also seeing part of the plantation and cabins that slaves used to live in. I also taught Sophie how to play Pooh sticks – it was so upsetting when she beat me twice though!
We also got to see a deer which was amazing – I know we have them in England, but I’ve never seen one! We also saw the graves of Andrew Jackson and many of his family members which was interesting.
After this, we headed back into the town to see the Country Music Hall of Fame – I didn’t know everyone in it in honesty but it was really cool to hear about the many different stories. I also saw Elvis’ gold car – there was a TV in it!! We then headed to a bar in the town to listen to another musician – it is just so cool to be able to listen to live music in any bar!
We had also eaten a lot of southern food so decided on something different for Monday’s dinner – MEXICAN!! We had cocktails and so much food, it was delicious and we were thoroughly stuffed!
Monday evening was also the moment I had been waiting for all weekend – I went to the Bluebird Cafe. I had heard about it before Nashville, but it is also a major part of the TV Show Nashville, that I love to watch with mum and Becca. It was incredible – there was an awesome band playing and such an intimate setting with only 50 people there – definitely a highlight of the trip!
